Kumaun Garhwal Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KGCCI) which was established in the year 1988 with a small Office located in the premises of M/s. Jindal Solvent Extractions, Ramnagar Road, Kashipur. Main thought before the formation was to look after the interest of mercantile community. When State of Uttarakhand was formed, it was a tiny part of Uttar Pradesh with a different geographical, climate and cultural environment than rest of the State. At that time only KGCCI envisaged that some special Industrial Package is necessary for attracting more & more entrepreneurs to this Hill State. Continuous efforts from KGCCI whose President was also a member of Uttaranchal Policy Making Committee of U.P., got success in convincing the Central Govt. through Govt. of Uttarakhand and industries got the Central Package for Uttarakhand, for the period 2003-2013 which was later on brought down up to 2010.

Message from the President

I would like to pay my warm regards to all the respected members of K.G.C.C.I. for electing me as the president of the chamber for the period 2010-2011. It is really a matter of gratitude towards the industries which has assured me a thumbing confidence for leading the chamber.

At present KGCCI is a body of 315 members which is marching towards 500 members in very near future, under such circumstances it is the duty of chamber to provide time bound and effective services to the industries.

I, on the behalf of the present managing committee of KGCCI assure all the members that we will work closely with the state government on policy issues for enhancing efficiency, competitiveness & expending business opportunities within the state and country.

I would also like to congratulate the outgoing team of KGCCI and its president Mr. Rajiv Ghai for their hard work & interest to promote the activity of the chamber and their utmost efforts to satisfy the members of chamber by solving their day-to-day problems.

Now the chamber has to work effectively to enhance the infrastructure of the state such as road, power, telecom etc. so that industry may run rapidly without any hurdles.

At present the biggest crises in front of the industries is non availability of power, however, the chamber is taking up this matter at all the levels in the State Government as well as Govt. of India, Ministry of Power so as to get the additional power to the Uttrakhand Power Corporation Ltd. So as to provide the industry with regular power round the clock.

The other major issue before the chamber is to extend the Industrial Policy, 2003 up to 31 March 2013, to attract more & more industries to come here to establish their plants. We as a chamber are trying and doing our best to get the industrial policy extended.

I am hopeful that with the co-operation of the members of the chamber, we will surely achieve all the goals fixed by the chamber for the benefit of the industry. Together we will try and solve all the problems/hurdles before the industries in Uttrakhand so as to facilitate a healthy industrial environment.

With Warm Regards

(Darbara Singh)
  President
